How do you get past his homophobia and his anti-semitism in such lines as “Who told 4000 Israeli workers at the Twin Towers/To stay home that day” — which is just about the worst thing you can do, falsely blaming an entire group of people for “knowing” something that just isn’t true. He seems to have been a knee-jerk ranter who actually makes it harder for people who have legitimate gripes against real abuses. We don’t need leaders or poets who make up things to suit political agendas. Find a better hero. They are out there.
